Third Quarter Social Activity

We recently held our 3rd quarter AISES-CPC Social event, which was dinner at Julia Blackbirds on 32nd and Lowell, Denver Colorado. A big thanks to Jennifer Wolf for putting it together!

We thank Terry Battiest, Rose Red Elk Hardman, Kay Miller, Maria Montour, and Marc Towersap for sacrificing their Saturday mornings to grade the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Scholarships! There were many impressive candidates who will be our future leaders!

Our very own Dr. Robert Whitman spoke at the recent Gill Conference held in the University of Colorado - Boulder campus. He made an impromptu session along with Sandra Begay-Campbell on a workshop entitled, "Organization Structure and Dyamics".

Many of the Colorado University AISES student chapters got together for a picnic with us at Sloan's Lake in Denver. Thank you Jennifer Wolf for getting many of the dishes together for the picnic!! We met with over 20 students, and hope to repeat the picnic early in the fall when the Fall semester starts!

Dr. Robert Whitman attended and helped judge at the AISES Science Fair in St. Paul Minnesota. There were approximately 250 projects!! The grand prize winner, 4 students from New Mexico (two from Wingate High and two from Grants High) are competing at the International Science and Engineering Fair. Good luck!

We have decided to raise the AISES-CPC dues from 10$ to 25$. This is to help fund our non-profit activities towards meeting our objectives.

Thanks to Sandra One Feather, the AISES-CPC received a 1000 dollar grant to obtain a new AISES-CPC booth! This booth should be much lighter and easier to pack/ship/set up than our older booth (thank you Paul Kabotie for that booth).

At our last meeting, Belvin Pete, Chair of the Growth, Development, and Identity Committee, arranged to have Karen Wilde-Rogers speak. She discussed her role as the head of the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs for the State of Colorado.
